Abstract

Since the Mataram era, Tumang Village has been one of the villages producing copper and brass crafts. Currently, Tumang Village has become the fourth largest copper craft center in Central Java, with 50% of its population, or 9,300 people, consisting of 2,600 households in Tumang Village, working as copper and brass craftsmen. The skill of making copper, brass, and aluminum crafts has mostly been passed down through generations in Tumang. The problem faced by the Tumang craft center is the lack of a platform to promote the craftsmen's works to the broader community. Considering the great potential of the Tumang craft center and the problems faced by the craftsmen, a platform is needed to address these issues. The proposed solution is the design of a craft center, namely "The Tumang Village Copper Craft Center Based on Creative Tourism in Boyolali," which can enhance the economic value of Tumang Village craftsmen and become a creative educational tourism attraction for the wider community. With a creative tourism approach, the craft center not only serves as a place for craftsmen to produce and promote copper crafts but also provides direct education to visitors, allowing them to gain a creative experience about the process of making Tumang Village copper crafts, from shaping to finishing. The facilities at the craft center to accommodate these activities include production rooms, showrooms, workshops, and restaurants as supporting facilities. This craft center design is located in Cepogo District, Boyolali Regency, based on the results of site analysis and applicable regional regulations.
