Abstract

Low critical thinking of students on mathematics subjects because the strategies used by teachers have not varied in the learning process. The aim of this study is to analyze the Think Pair Share strategy with the help of colorful ball media to cultivate critical thinking in V-grade students, describing the obstacles as well as their solutions. This research uses a qualitative approach. Research using 2 student subjects. Research data collection techniques are interviews and observations. Data validity using source triangulation and techniques. Once the data is collected, data analysis will be carried out starting with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawings. The results of this study show that group 1 tends to think critically high, where it does not meet the Reason (R) criteria, and group 1 pairs do not meet Situation (S) critical criteria so they tend to be critically moderate. In this strategy there are obstacles in its implementation: students are not accustomed to using the Think Pair Share strategy, the time spent on the learning process is limited, and difficulties in facilitating discussion with students. The solution to overcome these obstacles is simulations and exercises using TPS strategies to amiliarize students with the teaching and learning process, managing time efficiently and appropriately, always motivating students. So this strategy can make a contribution to the development of learning to foster students' critical thinking.
