Abstract

The primary issue of this study is to find the representation of masculinity portrait in Bartie or King George VI at The King’s Speech Movie. The objective of this movie is to analyze characteristic of masculinity in King’s Speech Movie. The goal of this research is to find out what is the indicator of masculinity in The King’s Speech movie, secondly to find out how is the masculinity represented in The King’s Speech movie, and the last is to find out why is masculinity addressed in The King’s Speech movie. This study involves conducting a literary analysis, which aims to discover novel insights within a literary piece, establishing connections between literary works and the social context in which they were created. The research uses two data sources, primary data source and secondary data sources, the primary data sources is The King’s Speech Movie and secondary data sources are data that support the analysis. The conclusion drawn from this study shows representation of masculinity characteristic of The King’s Speech Movie described as Expansive, Demanding, Aggressive, Competitive, Rational and Analytic which shown by Bartie or King George VI in entire movie. David Seidler as The King’s Speech Movie screenwriter describe Bartie or King George VI as stutter person who has masculinity characteristic.
