Abstract

Various learning media are in great demand and attract students' attention in learning. Video media as a form of learning media that has appeal and is able to display visualizations of learning materials. This study aims to 1) analyze students' initial knowledge of Indonesian population dynamics material and 2) analyze the effectiveness of using learning videos of Indonesian population dynamics material in class XI geography subjects at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. This research is a type of quantitative research with an experimental design. The population in this study was all class XI social studies students totaling 136 students with a sample of grade XI IPS 1 students totaling 34 students taken by purposive sampling chosen because it was the class with the highest daily average value. Data collection in this study used question instruments in the form of pre-test and post-test, documentation and observation. Data analysis techniques use t-tests and N-Gain. The results showed that 1). Students' initial knowledge of Indonesian population dynamics material is included in the medium category with an average score of 62.94. 2). The results of the t test show a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, then Ha is accepted, that is, there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest values. Calculations using the N-Gain test obtained a result of 0.61 or 61%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the learning media for learning video learning material on Indonesian population dynamics in geography subjects at SMA N 2 Sukoharjo was tested to be "effective enough" to be used in learning and improving student learning outcomes.
