Abstract

The city of Surakarta successfully achieved the designation of Child-Friendly City with the Main category in 2022. Various efforts have been made to maintain this designation since 2017. However, the increasing cases of child violence in Surakarta pose a challenge for the government in ensuring the well-being of children. The violence experienced by children can have negative impacts on their growth and development, including the risk of experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a mental disorder that can affect a child's growth. Therefore, there is a need for a suitable therapeutic approach for young children to reduce the negative effects of mental disorders caused by violence. One enjoyable and suitable alternative therapy for young children is early childhood education with the implementation of play therapy. Early childhood education that incorporates play therapy can be an ideal setting for children to undergo a enjoyable therapeutic method.
