Abstract

The behavior of students not to do academic assignments due to laziness, difficulty managing time well, fear of failing in doing assignments, and being too happy with other work will result in the problem of academic procrastination in students. Based on the phenomenon that often appears academic procrastination that is often faced by students, the causes are self-belief in one's abilities, lack of attention, the surrounding social environment, inner desires, laziness and how to manage time. This study uses a comparative quantitative approach with the subject of students of the Faculty of Psychology class of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The data collection method uses a questionnaire with a scale of Academic Procrastination and Intensity of Use of Tiktok and Instagram Social Media. This research uses Independent t-test analysis. Independent t-test results show that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in academic procrastination using the social media tiktok and Instagram. This means that the hypothesis is accepted and it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in academic procrastination using Tiktok and Instagram.
