Abstract
The purpose of this study was to describe: 1) The effect of financial literacy on the consumptive behavior of students of Accounting Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta; 2) The effect of self-control on the consumptive behavior of students of Accounting Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta; 3) The effect of parents' income on the consumptive behavior of students of Accounting Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta; 4) The effect of financial literacy, self-control, and parents’ income on the consumptive behavior of students of Accounting Education Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. This type of research is a quantitative research with a survey design. The population of this study was 784 students, with a sample of 265 students and using proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data collection techniques were carried out using a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, t test, F test, coefficient of determination, and effective contribution and relative contribution. The results of this study obtained the equation Y = 56.783 – 0.569x1 – 0.624x2 + 0.526x3. The results obtained: 1) Financial literacy has a significant and negative effect on consumptive behavior with tcount (10.504) > ttable (1.969) with an effective contribution of 29.5% and a relative contribution of 32.38%; 2) Self-control has a significant and negative effect on consumptive behavior with tcount (18,750) > ttable (1,969) with an effective contribution of 56.2% and a relative contribution of 61.69%; 3) Parents' income has a significant and positive effect on consumptive behavior with tcount (3.415) > ttable (1.969) with an effective contribution of 5.4% and a relative contribution of 5.93%; 4) Financial literacy, self-control, and parents’ income have a simultaneous effect on consumptive behavior with Fcount (892,882) > Ftable (2,639) and the coefficient of determination is 91.1%.
