Abstract

This study aims to: find out how the role of PAI teachers in improving the quality of reading the Koran in grade VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta in 2021/2022. This research is a descriptive research by conducting field research or field research using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study consisted of two subjects, namely Islamic religious education teachers and seventh grade students. The researchers collected data using observation, interviews, and documentation methods which were then analyzed through four steps, namely triangulation, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the role of Islamic religious education teachers in improving the quality of reading the Koran in grade VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta in 2021/2022. (1). The role of the teacher in guiding and nurturing students in order to increase the quality of reading the Koran, (2). The method used by PAI teachers is quite easy to understand, (3). The strategy used by PAI teachers is quite good in improving the quality of reading the Koran, (4). The obstacle that occurs is that there are some students whose makharijul letters are still not good.
