Abstract

This study aims to determine what factors cause divorce among civil servants in Karanganyar Regency. This research uses phenomenological qualitative methods. The informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique with the criteria that a civil servant (PNS), currently undergoing a divorce process, comes from Karanganyar Regency. The data collection process was carried out by means of unstructured interviews. The results showed that there were divorce factors divided into internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include disputes, either party leaves the responsibility, attitude changing, financial problems, and unfulfilled expectations. External factors include infidelity, family problems of one party, and environment. Overall, the two informants in this study have less and effective communication patterns with their partners. This resulted in the low ability of the two informants to carry out positive conflict resolution, so that the conflict never ended and ended in divorce.
