Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the contribution of students’ attendance in English course, students’ parents social economic status, and student motivation toward students’ speaking achievement. This study uses associational quantitative research as the method of the research. The subject of this research this study are English Department fourth semester students of IAIN Surakarta. The technique of collecting the data are questonnaire and test. The questionnaire is dealing with students’ attendance in English course, students’ parent social economic status and students’ motivation and the test is dealing with students’ speaking achievement. The data analized using descriptive statistic, classic assumption test, multiple regressions test and hypothesis testing which includes t-test, f-test, coeficient of determination and predictor contribution. The result shows that the formulation of multiple regression is Y=25,886 + ,029 X1 + 0,363 X2 + 0,576 X3, students’ attendance in English course (X1) shows that resut of t-result is 3,565 with the significance result is 0,001. The significance data has been got from the result T-test. Students’ parents social economic status (X2) shows that result of t-result is 2,061 with significance result is is 0.047. Students’ motivation (X3) shows that result of t-result is 2,024 with significance is 0,049. The result of F-result is. 38,995 with the significance result is. 0,00. the result of R2 is 0,765. This means that there are positive and significance contributions of independent variables toward dependent variable.
