Abstract

Permendikbud No. 6 of 2018 replaces Permendiknas No. 28 of 2010 which is deemed irrelevant to the development of educational dynamics in preparing prospective school principals. In Permendikbud No. 6 of 2018 concerning the assignment of teachers as principals, it is stated that teachers who will become and are appointed as school principals must follow the selection stage and attend education and training (training) for prospective principals. The purpose of this study is to describe (1) the nomination of prospective principals. (2) implementation of the selection of prospective school principals. (3) implementation of school principal education and training. (4) the main duties and functions of the principal, in accordance with Permendikbud No. 6 of 2018. This type of research is qualitative research. The research was conducted at SDN Sondakan and SDIT Nur Hidayah, schools within the Surakarta City Education Office, and LPPKS to obtain supporting data for the selection of prospective principals. Data analysis using three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with verification. The results of this study indicate that (1). The nomination of prospective principals at SDN Sondakan No.11 was proposed by the principal by providing a letter of recommendation. Meanwhile, at SDIT Nur Hidayah, the principal proposed the teacher to the head of the foundation, and after being approved the principal gave a letter of recommendation to be reported to the education office. (2) The implementation of the selection of prospective school principals is divided into 2 (two) stages, namely administrative selection and substance selection. (3) The implementation of education and training for prospective school principals is carried out in four stages, namely On the Job Training 1, In Service Training 1, On the Job Training 2, and In Service Training 2, with a time of 300 (three hundred) JP @45 minutes. (4) The principal duties of the principal are entirely for managerial, entrepreneurial development, and supervision of teachers and staff.
