Abstract

In this COVID-19 pandemic condition, the government has made policies that are used as an alternative in education so that learning continues. The alternative used today is distance learning. Distance learning is a learning system that does not take place in one room and there is no direct face-to-face interaction between teachers and students. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of distance learning (PJJ) and the factors that support and hinder distance learning in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura. This research is a type of qualitative research with a phenomenological approach which aims to clarify the situation experienced by a person in everyday life. The data collection uses interview, observation and document methods. The results obtained in this study are that 1) Distance learning (PJJ) Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura is carried out using WhatsApp grup and Google Classroom media. In this case, learning is considered quite effective in such conditions. For the collection of their own assigments in the second semester, parents submit physical evidence of student assigments. Thus, between students and parents have full responsibility and awareness of learning. 2) Factors supporting and inhibiting the effectiveness of distance learning are influenced by two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. The supporting factors include adequate facilities and infrastructure, motivation from parents and students, smooth internet, and living environment. While the inhibiting factors are parents pay less attention to their children, parents are busy working, facilities owned by students are limited, and internet constraints.
