Abstract
The research on the thematic book for class IV theme 2 “Always Save Energy” in teacher and student books is motivated by the importance of character values that need to be applied to students. This study aims to (1) describe the character values in the teacher's book, (2) describe the character values in the student's book, (3) describe the suitability of the character values in the teacher's and student's books. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative research type of content analysis. Data collection techniques through observation and documentation. The validity of the data using validity and reliability. The data analysis technique uses increased persistence. The values of the nation's character are 18 characters. The results of the study contained 12 values of national character that appeared in the teacher's book including: religious, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, independent, curiosity, appreciating achievement, friendly/communicative, fond of reading, caring for the environment, and responsibility. The student's book reads the same 11 characters as the teacher's book, except religious. Characters in the teacher and student books have 11 conformity, discrepancies are only read in religious. The six national characters that cannot be read in the book are: Honest, democratic, national spirit, love for the homeland, love for peace, and social care.
