Abstract
The aims of this research are: describing the intrinsic elements, describing the use of language styles, and describing the relevance of Wiji Thukul's Grassroots Song as a teaching material in SMA. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this study are in the form of language style in the Wiji Thukul's Poetry Song. The data collection technique used is library research. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique is done by using the method of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are 6 styles of cynicism, 6 styles of sarcasm, 2 styles of satire, 4 styles of hyperbole, 3 styles of personification, 2 styles of hyphalase, 2 styles of association language, 5 styles of metaphor, 1 style of mesadiplosis, 2 ironic language style, 1 epizuexis language style, and 1 anaphora language style which are in the 7 poems selected by the researcher in Wiji Thukul's Poetry, Wiji Thukul's poetry can be used as teaching material in X grade high school, namely at basic competence of 3.17 ( analyze the building blocks of poetry) and 4.17 (write poetry and pay attention to the building blocks).
