Abstract
The learning process is a major activity within the scope of education in schools. Each field of study requires a variety of learning resources, the role of educators in selecting appropriate learning resources greatly influences the learning process, both in the classroom and outside the classroom. This also applies to learning activities in geography where geography has a study of human interaction with the environment as well as a study of interactions between humans and humans themselves. This research is a literature study that (1) aims to determine the benefits of the environment as a source of learning geography,(2) how to use the environment as a source of learning geography and (3) what factors hinder the use of the natural environment in learning geography. This research is a qualitative research using systematic review as the research method. This research uses data collection techniques through the publication database http://www.sinta.ristekbrin.go.id/ using the keywords "environmental use", "geography education", "geographic environment", "utilization of the geographic environment", "utilization environment as a source of learning geography "," geography learning and geography learning resources ". There were 122 articles related to this keyword and only 31 articles were selected. Articles that were not selected in this study because they were considered less relevant to the focus of this study. So that the results of this study are as follows: (1) The benefits of the environment as a source of learning geography by bringing students to observe the environment will add to the balance in teaching and learning activities such as a higher willingness to participate in learning, make better use of learning time, have more power. pull, eliminate misconceptions, improve reasoning on topics, make it easier to understand lessons, are not boring, and increase group morale. (2) By taking advantage of the social conditions of the urban village community, the physical environment around the school, utilizing leftover materials that are no longer used and used items that can cause environmental pollution, and events that occur in the community. (3) There are also factors that hinder the use of the environment as a source of learning geography in Indonesia, the absence of natural phenomena that will be used as learning material at the desired time so that the learning process is choked up, the learning process time is too short, and it is difficult to condition students when they are directly involved. spaciousness. The conclusions of this study indicate that using the environment as a source of learning geography can affect the learning outcomes of students. However, there are still many educators who have not used the environment as a learning resource for various reasons.
