Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the work carried out by every educational institution, especially universities, which was initially carried out face to face, was limited to work from home to minimize the spread of the virus. With this change in the learning system, the role of lecturers is highly prioritized, especially the role of female lecturers, with the emotional intelligence of each female lecturer and the workload of the college will prevent female lecturers from experiencing burnout or physical and mental exhaustion. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and workload with burnout on female lecturers who experienced working from home during the covid-19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were female lecturers at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta with a total of 100 people who were determined by random sampling. The research method used is quantitative with data collection using google form which contains a burnout scale questionnaire, emotional intelligence scale, and workload scale. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression technique with SPSS 16.0 program. Based on the results of data analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and workload with burnout (F= 62.689, Sig 0.000), there was a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout (r = -0.702, Sig 0.000), and there was a positive relationship that significant relationship between workload and burnout (r= 0.239, Sig 0.008). The empirical mean of burnout is low, emotional intelligence is high, and the workload is moderate. The effective contribution of emotional intelligence and workload variables to burnout is 56.4% with details of emotional intelligence variables at 49.9% and workload variables being 6.3%, while 43.6% is influenced by other variables.
