Abstract

This study aims to;a) describe the study club activities carried out by students; b) know the role of the study club in increasing student understanding of lecture material. This research used qualitative type with ethnography design. The technique of collecting data is by observation, interview and documentation.The research subject was a study club consisting of three members of the Teaching and Accounting Education Faculty of the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who carried out study club learning activities. The validity of the data using source triangulation and technique. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The result showed that; a) Students who take part in the study club can better understand the course material through doing assignments, repetition of material, reviewing notes and reviewing questions and grids; b) Study clubs have a role in increasing understanding of lecture materials and being a means of practicing communication between students and exchanging information so that students are not just memorizing but can understand the course material well.
