Abstract

The problem of difficulty reading the Al-Qur'an that is often experienced by students in schools is a very important problem and needs serious attention from educators, especially in terms of mahrijul letters and tajwid. A situation like this is very concerning, where a Muslim is further away from the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad, it is very necessary the role of all parties, not only religious teachers or BTA, but also teachers of other subjects and society. So that the culture of reading the Al-Qur'an is added again to the Muslim family and in the end it is hoped that it will be able to become a means of obtaining happiness in this world and the hereafter. This study aims to determine the extent to which the effectiveness of extra-curricular BTA in SMP Negeri 1 Teras in overcoming difficulties experienced by students in reading the Al-Qur'an. From these difficulties it can also be seen what methods are used by religious teachers to help students to be able to read the Al-Qur'an. This research is field research (field research). Sources of data from this study were obtained at SMP Negeri 1 Teras, while the subjects of this study were the Head of SMP Negeri 1 Teras, the teacher and students. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation, data analysis from this study using deductive analysis methods. This research shows that the implementation of reading and writing Al-Qur'an activities at SMP Negeri 1 Teras is carried out at the effective hour of the morning with each class 1 lesson hour per piece, the material being taught is how to read the Al-Qur'an with the makhorijul letters correct. With the reading and writing of the Al-Qur'an activity, it is effective to improve the ability to read the Al-Qur'an. This is indicated by the percentage that 51.5% of the 64 children in grades VII B and VII C who take part in the reading and writing activities of the Qur'an, there are 33 children whose ability to read the Qur'an improves.
