Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of personality, prestige, career motivation, education costs and length of education on the interests of students following the accounting profession education. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. Respondents in this study were accounting students for the 2016 class of Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, where the sample was taken using the incidental sampling method, with a total sample of 192 respondents. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression models. The results of this study indicate that the personality and quality of career motivation had affect the interest of students in accounting education with a sig value of 0,000 each; and 0,000. Meanwhile, the prestige, cost of education and length of education did not had affect the interest of students in attending the accounting profession education with a sig value of 0.017; 0.216; and 0.877.
