Abstract

The use of the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method that researchers used make it easier for students to understand the material, students also take part in participating in the learning process. The use of mind maps is an alternative as the media used in this learning. This study aims to 1). Know the application of the Participatory Learning and Action method in the material of land use and conservation in class X IPS 2 SMA Negeri Colomadu 2). Know the learning outcomes of students using the Participatory Learning and Action method on the material of land use and conservation in class X IPS 2 SMA Negeri Colomadu. The research type was quantitative research. The research design used in this study was the Participatory Learning and Action method. The subjects in this study were students of class X IPS 2 SMA Negeri Colomadu. The data collection technique used in this study was observation and the instruments used were pretest and post-test desaign. The data analysis techniques used in this study were the instrument validity test, the reliability test, the normality test, and the paired sample t test which were calculated using the IBM SPSS 21.0 software. The results of this study were 1). The application of participatory learning and action methods uses a mind map in class X IPS 2 which was very good 2). This was evidenced by the results of the pairet sample t test which shows a significant value <0.05 or H0 was rejected, which means that there was an effect of the application of the Participatory Learning and Action method on the material of land use and conservation. The effect of learning outcomes can be seen from the increase in the average value of pre-test and post-test, from 66.02 to 73.97.
