Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the structure of Hanindawan's Paing Si Bediende drama script, (2) about how defense mechanism is contained in Hanindawan's Paing Si Bediende drama script based on psychoanalytic perspective, (3) about defense mechanism contained in Hanindawan's Paing Si Bediende drama script as relevance teaching material in high school. This study using a descriptive qualitative method with the object of research is the defense mechanism of Doris's based on psychoanalytic perspective. This study data’s are words, phrases and sentences. The primary data source of this research is Paing Si Bediende drama script by Hanindawan in the form of a manuscript. Secondary data in this study is from the form of website articles. The technique of data collection is library research, listening and taking a note techniques. The validity of the data uses the theory and data triangulation techniques. The outcome of this study are (1) the structure of the Paing Si Bediende drama script includes the theme of raising the struggle of life and the weakness of the heart of the character Doris who is in love but is not a normal love. The facts of the story there is, a) the plot is the cronological plot, b) the main characters are Paing, Doris, Mr. Empong, Benol, Pok Jin, c) the setting is at home and the time occurred in 1980, (2) the defense mechanism of Doris have the form of Repression, Sublimation, Projection, Transfer form, Rationalization, Reaction Formation and Aggression and Apathy, (3) this study is in accordance with the criteria for selecting teaching materials and relevant as teaching materials in class XI according with KD 3.1 and KD 4.1 on the Curriculum of 2013.
