Abstract

This research aims to find out the mistakes that students have in problem solving the HOTS in the three-dimensions material reviewed from cognitive style field independent (FI) and field dependent (FD). Error solving problems in this research using polya theory consisting on four stages namelyunderstanding the problem, drafting a settlement plan, implementing the completion, and looking back. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The study used the subject of four class XII MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo with different cognitive styles. The data collection techniques used are tests, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study showed that in solving the problem HOTS type aspect analyze the subject of FI doing the stage mistake implementing the completion plan and looking back, while the FD subject at the planning stage of completion, implementing the completion plan, look back. On the aspect of evaluating the subject FI and FD made mistakes at all stages of understanding the problem, planning problem solving, implementing a completion plan, and looking back.
