Abstract

Surakarta City has a wholesale market called Pusat Grosir Solo which was founded in 2005 on an area of 10,190 m² located in Gladag Solo, Surakarta City. This wholesale market was built to meet the textile needs of both the people of Surakarta and outside the city of Surakarta. This building has 5 floors that sell various types of textiles such as batik cloth, batik clothes, Muslim clothes, fashion, handicrafts, bed covers, and various sandals and shoes. This building still has some flaws. The technical aspect of this building is still not maximally utilizing natural lighting in the void area that uses artificial lighting, some still use artificial ventilation which causes energy waste. The functional aspect of this building is still lacking in both human and vehicle circulation, for example the absence of a special room in the drop off area that provides seats, uneven visitors inside the building, and the direction of the vehicle to the main drop off from the vehicle entrance is not maximized. This redesign activity aims to improve the function of the building in accordance with architectural principles so that users are more comfortable.
