Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze students' metacognition abilities in solving quadratic equation problems in terms of Adversity Quoetient. This type of research uses a mix method with the Concurrent Triangulation Strategy design. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA Negeri 2. The study sample used two classes namely X IPS 5 as a trial class and X IPA 3 as a research class. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. Data collection techniques using interviews, questionnaire tests, and tests of metacognition questions. Quantitative data analysis techniques using one-way ANOVA test with unequal cells and qualitative data analysis using reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study: 1) there are differences in the ability of metacognition in solving quadratic equation problems in terms of AQ, the highest metacognition abilities are climber students, camper students with medium ability and quitter students with the lowest ability. 2) there are differences in the metacognition characteristics between high climber students (S1) and low climber students (S2) in solving quadratic equation problems. The difference is in the evaluation aspect where S1 is able to meet 3 characteristics while S2 only fulfills two characteristics. 3) there is no difference in metacognition characters between high camper students (S3) and low camper students (S4) in solving quadratic equation problems. 4) there are differences in the metacognition characteristics between high quitter students (S5) and low quitter students (S6) in solving quadratic equation problems. The difference is in the aspect of awareness where S5 is able to meet 2 characteristics while S2 only meets 1 characteristic.
