Abstract

Abstract Problems that will be studied by researchers are social problems, and dynamic so this research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This study uses data collection techniques in the form of triangulation techniques. Researchers conducted participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of VIII grade students of Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Bun Middle School. This study aims to: (1) describe the process of learning Indonesian in class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Bun, (2) implementing the substitution method in learning Indonesian in class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Bun. From the results of the study it can be learned that learning by applying the substitution method is not only derived from teachers, but is also supported by the activeness of students during the implementation of learning activities, so that an understanding of writing good and correct sentences is more easily understood by students. Based on the data of the learning outcomes of grade VIII students of SMP Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Bun during the research process has increased. This is indicated by the average value of students and many students who have not yet reached the KKM. Thus it can be proposed that through the substitution method as one of the Pilabah approaches is very suitable to be used to develop the quality of the process and the quality of learning outcomes in writing sentences that are developed into persuasive essays on students. Therefore it can be said that through learning that uses the method of substitution is very helpful for students in developing writing skills, creativity, reasoning and new experiences for students.
