Abstract

This aim of the study is to describing difficulties in solving the mathematical problem material of number pattern evaluated from mathematical connection. This type of research is qualitative research. Subject of this research is class VIII A SMP Muhammadiyah Watukelir with number of student counted 21. Data techniques in this study used the test method, interview, and documentation. Data validation was done by triangulation method by comparing data from the test method, and interviews. Data analysis techniques performed by stage data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result obtained from the research that is on the subject that has a excellent level of mathematical connection, student tend to have difficulty on weakness count. At the good level of mathematical connection, student tend to have difficulty on weakness count and transfer knowledge. Students at the sufficiently level tend to have difficulty in transfer knowledge and understanding of mathematical language. At the deficient level of mathematical connection, student tend to have difficulty on weakness count, transfer knowledge, and understanding of mathematical language. At the failed level of mathematical connection, student tend to have difficulty on weakness count, transfer knowledge, understanding of mathematical language, and visual perception.
