Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease associated with joint cartilage damage. Osteoarthritis attacks the supporting joints such as the vertebrae, hip joints, knees, and ankles. Osteoarthritis causes health problems decreased physiological abilities such as joint pain, psychological changes such as anxiety, limited social interaction, and decreased work productivity. Osteoarthritis is influenced by risk factors is age, gender, race, genetics, trauma, history of illness, physical activity, and sport. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of pain intensity with anxiety levels in patients with osteoarthritis in Makamhaji Sukoharjo. This research method uses quantitative research, with a correlational descriptive design and using non-probability sampling techniques with purposive sampling. The instruments in this study used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. The total population 492 people and the total sample 45 people. The mean pain scale of the respondents was 3.87. While the average score of respondent's anxiety is 10.62. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and 2 interviews. The data analysis method uses the Rank Spearman test with a coefficient value of 0.485. Hypothesis test results obtained p value = 0.001 <0.05 which means there is a relationship of pain intensity with anxiety levels on patients with osteoarthritis in Makamhaji Sukoharjo.
