Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the PPKn learning process was based on controversial issues in the media of active debate collaboration in increasing the development of multiple intelligence for eighth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. This type of research used in this study is classroom action research (CAR), also known as classroom action research. The study was conducted collaboratively and participatively between researchers and PPKn subject teachers, where researchers who observed the occurrence of the process of action in class and followed the course of action from the beginning to the end of the study. The teacher is only tasked to take action, namely applying the PPKn learning method based on controversial issues in the media of active debate collaboration can develop multiple intelligence students of class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Surakarta. The assessment results show that the teaching and learning activities of PPKn that raise controversial issues with collaborative active debate methods can be implemented well and fairly smoothly. Students are active in participating in teaching and learning activities during the observation period. Multiple student intelligence measured by assessment using a questionnaire based on several assessment indicators of the research results showed a significant increase, from initial conditions to action during two cycles there was an increase from initial conditions 31.82% increased to 54.55%, and finally covered 90 , 91% or as many as 20 students out of 20 students. The results of the evaluation give the result that the implementation of active debate discussion with the debate material on controversial issues has been carried out with 100% student activity, meaning that students are able to participate and participate in active debate discussions very well.
