Abstract
This study aims to describe the role of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in strengthening the independent character, to describe the role of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in strengthening the integrity character, as well as to describe the constraints of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in strengthening the independent and integrity character in SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura, Sukoharjo. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were the principal, student vice principal, Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher, BTA extracurricular supervisor, and students. The object of this research is the role of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education teacher in strengthening the independent character and integrity in SMP Negeri 2 Kartasura, Sukoharjo. Data collection used in this study is by interview, observation, and documentation. Data validity is done by triangulation of data sources and triangulation of techniques. Data analysis was performed by applying an interactive analysis model. The results of this study can be concluded that: 1) the role of the PPKn teacher in strengthening independent character through learning that is confident in expressing public opinion, finding solutions to the problems discussed, reading subject matter from various sources, and doing individual tasks themselves, through school culture, namely confidently communicate through 3S and read various books through literacy movements, as well as through extracurricular activities that are persistent in learning BTA; 2) the role of PPKn teachers in strengthening the character of integrity through learning that is not cheating during exams, dare to speak the truth, respect the opinions of others, and do all the tasks, through the school culture that is performing Dzuhur prayer in congregation, and through extracurricular activities that are following BTA extracurricular activities; 3) PPKn teacher constraints in strengthening independent character and integrity through learning that is limited time in implementing learning strategies and media, students are afraid to show their abilities in public, menyotek during exams, and students' interest in reading is low, through school culture, do not experience obstacles, and through BTA extracurricular experiences no problems.
