Abstract

The purposes of this study are: 1) To examine the differences in students' ability in doing the task of PISA-oriented geometry observed from the students’ gender. 2) To describe the error made by the students in reading the instruction of task about PISA-oriented geometry based on the Nolting method. 3) To describe the concept errors made by the students in doing the task of PISA-oriented geometry based on the Nolting method. The type of this research uses mix method research (quantitative and qualitative) using the Triangulation Strategy model. The analysis results of this study show that: 1) there was no difference in the ability of male and female students in doing the task of PISA-oriented geometry . 2) misread-directions erors made by male students as much as 42.7% while in female students as much as 29.3% this means that more male students make mistakes reading the question instructions. The cause of students' error in reading the task instructions is caused by the students who are not careful enough and do not understand what is meant in the task. 3) concept error has 57% occur in female students while it has 70.4% occur in male students who make a concept error. The cause of concept errors is caused by the students who use the wrong formula in answering the problem presented in the task and the users of the formula who are not appropriate with the conditions or the prerequisites of the formula.
