Abstract
There are four important skills if people want to master English, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Writing is one of the language skills that is difficult to master by students at the seventh grade SMP Negeri 2 Pulokulon. Beside the students, the teacher also faced the problem in teaching writing. The objective of this research are: to identify the problem faced by the teacher in teaching writing at the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 2 Pulokulon, to identify the problem faced by students in learning writing at the seventh at SMP Negeri 2 Pulokulon, and to identify the problem solving to solve the problem in writing. Research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. It can be seen for the findings that the problems faced by the students are limited idea, difficult to understand the materials, and low motivation. The problems faced by the teacher are students have low motivation, limited time, and different capability to receiving the material. Problem solving to solve this problem are by asking question, giving suggestion to students, discusing with collegue, evaluating the lesson plan, evaluating teaching and learning process.
