Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the application of problem based learning (PBL) learning can improve economic learning outcomes in class XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Al Falah Baki Sukoharjo. The research used was the classroom action research (CAR) method which was carried out in a total of II cycles, each cycle traversed into four research stages, namely: (1) planning of research actions; (2) observation of research actions; (3) implementation of research actions; and (4) reflection of research actions. In this study the research subjects were all students of class XI IPS I Madrasah Aliyah Al Falah Baki Sukoharjo. XI IPS I grade students consisting of 21 students with a composition of 15 female students and 6 male students. This research was conducted by collaborating with economics class XI teachers. Data collection techniques using observation, documentation and tests. The results of this study that the application of problem based learning (PBL) shows an increase in learning outcomes in economic subjects can be seen from students who score more than the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). With proven before the action, the percentage of student learning outcomes is only (28.57%), after the first cycle of action the student learning outcomes seem to have increased (52.38%), and after the cycle II action increased to (85.71%) . Based on this study, it was concluded that the method of learning problem based learning (PBL) in economic learning can improve student learning outcomes in class XI IPS I Madrasah Aliyah Al Falah.
