Abstract

Language is a communication tool between community members in the form of sound symbols produced by human speech tools. the main function of language is a communication tool or as a means of interaction. With the activity of communicating each speaker must convey the goals and intentions to the speech partner. The objectives of this study are (1) describe strategy directive speech acts in SBY's political speeches (2) describe the directive speech acts function in SBY's political speeches (3) describe the implementation of directive speech acts as Indonesian language learning media in junior high schools on the Basic Competence of studying and revise text copies, critical responsesand, challenges. This research is a type of qualitative research with a descriptive design. The data in this study are directive speech acts on SBY's speech on September 17, 2018. While the data source in this study was obtained from https://youtu.be/ GQOJOj2w2De. Data collection techniques used in this study are the recording, listening and note taking techniques. The data validity technique in this study was carried out by theory triangulation. The results of this study indicate that (1) there are 18 directive speech act strategies consisting of 7 direct speech acts and 11 indirect directive speech acts on SBY's political speech 17 September 2018. (2) there are 5 directive speech acts functions on SBY's political speech 17 September 2018, the function of the directive speech act unit is to want, pressure, invite, demand and prohibit. (3) Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the directive speech act on SBY's political speech 17 September 2018 can be used as the Basic Competence to review and revise text copies, critical responses, challenges, and recordings. For example in Indonesian language learning materials about messages or information delivered in a speech.
