Abstract

Monitoring the nutritional status needs to be done both in adult and the elderly given the rise of the emergence of degenerative diseases that not only occur in the elderly but begin to occur a lot in adulthood. One of the difficulties that arise when monitoring the nutritional status is that one of them is difficult to measure height so an alternative measurement is needed, namely using the ulna length. Determine the validity of height estimation based on ulna length with actual height in outpatient in the working area of Klaten Selatan Health Center This research was an observational research with cross sectional approach. The sampling method used is accidental sampling. The number of samples was 86, there is 43 adults (26-44 years) and 43 elderly (60-69 years). Ulna length data were converted into formulas in previous studies (Anupriya, Thummar, and Putri's equations). Data analysis difference test using one way ANOVA test followed by homogenity test. Mean of estimated height in adult using the Anupriya formula is 150,5 cm; Thummar 150,2 cm; and Putri 152,9 cm. Meanwhile in elderly using the Anupriya formula is 152,4 cm; Thummar 152,3 cm; and Putri 151,7 cm. There is no difference between actual height and estimated height based on Anupriya, Thummar, and Putri equation adult and elderly. Estimated height equation based on ulna length can be used in adult and elderly by using Putri equation.
