Abstract

The objectives of this study are:(1) describe Tere Liye's sociohistorical setting, (2) describes the structure of the novel About You by Tere Liye, (3) describe the form of the fighting spirit of the characters in the novel Tentang Kamu by Tere Liye analysis of psychological psychology approaches, (4) describe the implementation of the character's fighting spirit in the novel Tentang Kamu karya Tere Liye in learning in high school. This type of research is descriptive qualitative and the research strategy is embedded case studies. Data in the form of words, phrases, sentences, paragraphs that contain the spirit of fighting characters in the novel About You by Tere Liye. The data source in this research is novel Tentang Kamu karya Tere Liye published by Republika in 2016, 524 pages thick. The data collection technique used is literature study. The data analysis technique used is the semiotic reading method, which is heuristic and hermeneutic reading. Data validation techniques by triangulating data sources. The results of this study are: (1) the sociohistorical background of Tere Liye, Tere Liye was born in the interior of South Sumatra, born from a simple family, her parents work as farmers, most of her works carry the theme of the struggle for life,(2) the structure of the novel Tentang Kamu showing unanimity and wholeness is indicated by the themes of persistence, progression, characterization depicted through three dimensions (physiological, psychological, and sociological) and having a background (nursing home, Surakarta, and Bungin Island), setting time (1946), and setting social (uphold moral values), (3) the embodiment of fighting spirit in this novel consists of the fighting spirit of living life, the fighting spirit of achieving success, the fighting spirit of completing tasks, (4) this research can be implemented in KD High School learning. 3.11 and KD 4.11 class XI and in accordance with the learning criteria which include three aspects namely linguistic, psychology, and cultural background.
