Abstract
Delay in talking to early childhood is a condition where the quality of the child's speech development is not appropriate or under age, where the child becomes difficult to express his feelings and lack of vocabulary mastery in children. The purpose of this study is to understand and describe speech delays experienced by early childhood. Subjects in this study were 4 children, with 3 men and 1 woman who experience delays in speaking. The informants of this study were selected using a purposive technique with the criteria of early childhood aged 3-6 years, experiencing delays in speaking, and based on recommendations from class teachers and principals. Data collection is obtained from primary informants, namely children who experience delays in speaking using semi-structured interview methods for parents and teachers. The data analysis technique used used descriptive narrative techniques to explain the results of the study. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the delay in speech experienced by early childhood causes some obstacles including the child being unable to say what he feels or what he wants, the child feels awkward to join in chatting with his friends, and also the child tends to be quiet. Constraints are also felt by the interlocutors of children such as parents, teachers, or friends when they want to invite children to talk.
