Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the structure of critical discourse in Indonesian. (2) describe the lingual markers of criticism in the discourse of criticism. (3) identify the use of critical discourse as class IX Indonesian teaching material. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study amounted to twenty criticisms in the book Celotah-celoteh. Data collection techniques using refer to the note technique as an advanced technique. Data analysis methods used are translational matching methods and marking reading techniques. The results of this study include: (1) found three types of critical discourse structures namely complete, incomplete and inverted. (2) Critical discourse has lingual markers of each criticism in the form of phrases, clauses, and sentences. Lingual markers of criticism are presented using direct and indirect sentences and using subtle and polite language. (3) The results of this study can be used as Indonesian teaching materials Class XI KD 4.8 expressing criticism in the form of text responses verbally and or written with regard to structure and language.
