Putri, Eldiana Eisha. A610150010. DEVELOPMENT OF COMIC BOOKS OF VULKANISM MATERIALS AS THE BASIS OF KNOWLEDGE OF CLASS X DISASTER IN SMA ISLAM 1 SURAKARTA. Thesis, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University Surakarta, July 2019. This study aims to (1) find out the development of volcanic material comic books as the basis of class X disaster knowledge, and (2) determine the effectiveness of developing volcanic material comic books as the basis of class X disaster knowledge. The Development or Research and Development (R&D) model uses Thiagaraja's design 4D model. This type of research is an experimental study with a research design using one group pretest-posstest design with 50 respondents. The study was conducted in SMA Islam 1 Surakarta with a sampling technique using random sampling techniques with two classes, namely: the control class and the experimental class. The data analysis technique used is the T-test. The results showed that 1) product development produced volcanism comic books with a size of 18.2 cm x 25.7 cm with the product worthiness of material experts and media experts getting an average score of 4.4 and 5.0 included in the description " Very good". 2) The effectiveness of the use of comic book media obtained n-gain of the experimental class 0.535 which belongs to the category of "Medium", while the control class is only 0.207 which is included in the "Low" category. T-test results show a significant value (2-tailed) = 000 which means less than 0.05 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This shows an increase in student learning outcomes by using comic book media more effectively compared to conventional methods.
