Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) Markers of cohesion contained in Kompas political news discourse in the March-April 2019 edition. (2) Markers of coherence contained in Kompas political news discourse in the March-April 2019 edition. The method used is the method of sharing which includes basic and advanced techniques. The basic technique of the agih method is called the BUL technique (For Direct Elements) and advanced techniques which include marking reading techniques, dressing techniques, and extending techniques. The results of this study indicate the existence of cohesive discourse (1) grammatical cohesion consisting of referencing, substitution, ellipsis and conjunction, while in lexical cohesion found repetition, synonymy, antonymy, hyponymy, equivalence, and collocation. (2) Coherence markers which are divided into signified coherence, including markers of causality, contrast, temporal, chronological and sequential. Furthermore, in unmarked coherence, details and details are found. Markers of the dominant aspect of discourse integrity that emerge are the use of grammatical cohesion in the form of reference, conjunction, and repetition.
