Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) parents 'perceptions of good schools for children, 2) efforts of principals to empower communities in the school environment, 3) efforts to increase parents' interest in choosing schools for children in SD N 01 Doplang. This study used qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use interactive models. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques. The results of the study show that: 1) Parents' perceptions of good schools for children are seen from 3 aspects, namely education inputs (the role of parents in choosing schools for children with the aim of children obtaining good knowledge and character for future provision) , the educational process that is issued (vision and mission, leadership of the principal, teacher competency, teaching and learning, infrastructure facilities and school culture, educational processes that will deliver children to become qualified individuals), and educational outcomes associated with (alumni and achievements supported by students and school which is a successful benchmark for school-run education). 2) The efforts of the principal in the surrounding community members, namely by involving parents in extracurricular activities and setting school policies, the school board as a mediator between the school and parents, and other parties as supporting the smooth running of school programs through assistance, grants, donors, and involvement with active in various school activities. 3) School principals 'efforts to increase parents' interest in choosing schools are to develop teacher professionalism, manage and manage the PPDB process, conduct extracurricular development, socialize to kindergarten and home visits, choose schools that support culture, and establish good relations with the community.
