Abstract

This study aimed to describe: 1. The programs that was done by headmaster to improve the competence of graduates 2. The obstacle that is faced by headmaster in improving the competence of graduates 3. The efforts done by headmaster to the obstacle to improve the competence of graduates in Muhammadiyah elementary plus Malangjiwan. This study was qualitative study. Data collection technique was using interview, observation, and documentation. Data analysis technique was using interactive model. Data validity check was using source triangulation and technique. Research result: 1. The programs that was done by headmaster to improve the competence of graduates such as: (a) rolling class, (b) weekly reflection, (c) weekly exercise, (d) happy matter, (e) giving rewards, (f) weekly homework, (g) additional lesson hour, (h) rehearsal, (i) Try In, (j) Safari US/M, (k) SBT, (l) motivation, (m) ruhiyah guidance, (n) 3 main teachers in VI class, (o) fieldtrip. 2. The obstacle that is faced by headmaster in improving the competence of graduates as: (a) academic constraint includes students unable to understand the material from the teachers, (b) psychological constraint includes students scared when facing national exam, (c) financial constraint includes there are students who experience difficulties in payment 3. The efforts done by headmaster to the obstacle to improve the competence of graduates in Muhammadiyah elementary plus Malangjiwan as: (a) In terms of academics as: extensive the exercise, special additional lesson hour for Mathematics, Indonesian Language, and science subjects, private for students who unable to understand the lesson, (b) in terms of psychology as: giving motivation every Friday, ruhiyah, and SBT, (c) in terms of financial as: foster parent program, and garbage charity. The increasement is rank of the national examinations from rank 2 in Colomadu Subdistrict to rank 1st in Colomadu District.
