Abstract
The growing number of motorcycles in Indonesia demands some new innovations in order to improve its performance and fulfill the customer needs. One of many ways to improve the motorcycles performance is to modificate the Exhaust Manifold. Magic Ring is one example of those innovations. Magic Ring use active exhaust gases to improve the motorcycles performance. The exhaust gases later get returned back into the engine cylinder. This research is conducted in order to understand the diffuser modifications of experimental study on Yamaha Vixion 150’s performances using Magic Ring and Exhaust Manifold modifications with Diffuser outlet diameter and Diffuser inlet diameter ratio 1,25, 1,40, and 1,60 on motorcycles performance such as Torque and Power. This research is conducted by performing Dynotest and using Yamaha Vixion 150. The data shows that the highest improvement on Torque resulted when the motorcycles using Exhaust Manifold modifications with Diffuser outlet diameter and Diffuser inlet diameter ratio 1,25. The Torque number increased from 13,75 Nm on 6115 RPM in standard conditions, to 15,23 Nm on 6126 RPM. The highest Power improvement also resulted when the motorcycles using Exhaust Manifold modifications with Diffuser outlet diameter and Diffuser inlet diameter ratio 1,25. The Power number increased from 14,1 HP on 8121 RPM in standard conditions, to 14,7 HP on 8231 RPM.
