Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Describe the explanatory text structures contained in the March 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper. (2) Describe the form of the explanatory text structure in the March 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper. (3) Describe the utilization of explanatory text research results in the March 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper in learning Indonesian in class XI Vocational School. This type of research is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are explanatory texts. The data source in the study is the March 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper. Data collection techniques that use referential equivalent methods. The validity used in this study is the theory triangulation. Data analysis techniques using marking reading techniques begin by examining all available data from the source, namely collecting data in the March 2019 edition of the Solopos newspaper, observations that have been written in notes, personal documents. The results of the study of 20 explanatory text data in the Solopos newspaper succeeded in finding the first, a structure that has three parts to fill explanatory texts in the form of general statements (opening), a series of explanations (contents), and interpretations. Second, the form of filling out the explanatory text structure in the form of a general statement containing a sentence or paragraph containing an explanation or introduction to the topic, an explanatory sequence containing paragraphs which contains the process of occurring phenomena on the topic, usually patterned as causation, and interpretations that contain paragraphs interpretation of the opening and contents sections.
