Abstract
The role of the teacher as a manager in classroom learning activities has long been one of the important factors in improving student learning achievement. Favorable conditions in the classroom are the main prerequisites for an effective teaching and learning process to occur. Then class management refers to activities that create and maintain optimal conditions for the learning process to occur. The purpose of this study was to describe the role and methods of teachers in classroom management to improve the learning outcomes of Islamic Education in SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta. This type of research is field research with fenomenology approach. The subjects of this study were Islamic Education teachers, headmaster, and class VIII students. Methods of data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data is analyzed by interactive model of analysis. The results showed that 1) The role of the teacher in classroom management to improve learning outcomes of Islamic Education is the teacher acting as a planner in class management in the teaching and learning process including compiling syllabus, compiling lesson plans, arranging other instruments and instruments (curriculum, annual program, semester program, materials/ programs that must be learned, study guidelines, etc.). Another role is the teacher as the supervisor of Islamic Education subjects. The role of Islamic Education teachers is done to make teaching and learning activities interactive, inspirational, fun, challenging and motivating students in each of these activities to improve students' understanding of the Islamic Education material delivered. 2) The method of teachers in classroom management to improve learning outcomes of Islamic Education at SMP Muhammadiyah 6 Surakarta is to take action in class management in the form of class disorder prevention and behavioral approach, socio-economic approach, and electic approach. The next method is to maintain the climate / classroom atmosphere by organizing classrooms, arranging seating, arranging learning methods, determining media use, and regulating interaction patterns.
