Abstract
Math is an important subject in the world of education. One of the aims of learning mathematics is to provide students with the ability to think creatively. The aim of the research is to: (1) know the creative thinking skills of students of SMP Negeri 3 Teras Boyolali VII grade in a matter of high-level thinking skills in social arithmetic material. (2) know the process of creative thinking skills of students of SMP Negeri 3 Teras Boyolali VII grade in solving higher order type thinking skills in social arithmetic material . The subjects of this study is students of class VII B SMP Negeri 3 Teras Boyolali. The technique of collecting data uses tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are techniques of analysis of Miles & Hubermen which includes three activities of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the creative thinking ability undertaken by students in solving the problem of the type of higher order thinking skills (HOTS) can reach four aspects that is fluency shown by ability to find solution problem. Flexibility is demonstrated by the ability to identify two possible solutions to problems with different point of view. Originality is show by the ability to explore the knowledge it possessed, and the elaboration is demonstrated by the ability to create a thing into a coherent new form.
