Abstract
In this study using natural fibers where the fibers used are pineapple leaf fibers as reinforcement with fiber without using NaOH treatment at volume fractions of 40%, 50%, and 60%. The matrices used were Polypropylene and Epoxy with type EPH 555 resin and Hardener. The method for compiling fibers uses the hand lay-up method for the Epoxy and Hot Pres printing process for the Polypropylene printing process. With strength testing using standard Izod type Impact testing ASTM D256 material and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) testing. From the results of the Impak test, the best results were obtained at 60% volume fraction of Epoxy and Polypropylene matrices from NaOH untreated fibers. Data obtained from testing obtained from the Epoxy matrix at a volume fraction of 60% has an absorbed price of 4,729 J and Impact prices of 0.037 J / mm² while from the absorbed Energy Polypropylene matrix 6.181 J and Impact prices 0.048 J / mm². Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) takes data from fibers without treatment. Polypropylene NaOH matrix shows the lignin layer and shows hemicellulose that binds to cellulose or parts of fine fibers, namely the fiber core.
