Abstract

The aims of this research is to know: (1) the criteria for teaching materials that will be developed in the emerging learning media map, (2) the map development model of learning media arises, and (3) the effectiveness of map learning media arises material form of the face of the earth on land. This type of research is research and development (R & D) which adopted the design model of Borg and Gall. The research design used Control Group Design Post-Test Pre-Test with class VII respondents group 2 as the control class and class VII respondents group 1 as the experimental class of Al Firdaus Sukoharjo Middle School. The data analysis technique used is the T-test. The process of developing a map media has arisen through product improvement carried out by material experts and media experts with an average value of 4.55 which means it is in the category of "GOOD". The results of the T test (t-test) at the pretest and posttest both in the control class or in the experimental class showed significant results, namely H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. Clarifying the effectiveness of the media, researchers compared the learning outcomes which showed an average increase in learning outcomes in the control class 49.07% and the experimental class 64.52%. This means that the increase in experimental class learning outcomes is 15.45% higher than the control class. The results of the final product assessment by research respondents have an average value of 4.22 which belongs to the category "GOOD". In conclusion, arising map learning media developed have been effective and can improve student learning outcomes.
