Abstract
The education system in Indonesia has changed. These changes can be seen physically and non-physically. Physical changes of Islamic education in Indonesia were initially carried out in Surau or worship places. The new era has began, classroom has been established so it could be used as a place of learning. The non-physical changes of Islamic education in Indonesia is due to being part of the national education system, so the changes will follow the national education system both from educators, curriculum and the learning process. One of effort to create superior school is to apply the best system. The system that used to implement superior schools is a full day school system. In the implementation of a school with a full day school system has the dynamics regarding school governance and school culture. This research is a field research with a historical approach. The data source of this study was SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta with the subject of headschool and teachers. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis is carried out in three components, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate, 1) SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta has the dynamics of the education system. The dynamics of SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta have four stages. First, the initiation stage, the discussion between the Council of Dikdasmen PDM Surakarta, staff of the SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta. Second, the implementation stage, to build SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta. Third, the development stage, schools always make improvements in the implementation of the education system. Fourth, the evaluation stage is conducted every week. Based on the stages in the development of the superior school, SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta can be said to have fulfilled the element of superior schools. 2) SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakartahas two forms of the dynamics education system. First is school governance, the headschool has involvement in managing the school and is able to solve the problems in the school. The second is school culture which has the slogan of Full Day School and Transformative Learning. Efforts to achieve its slogan, SMP Muhammadiyah Program Khusus Kottabarat Surakarta applies a full day school system in implementing learning.
