Abstract

This research aims to describe students error in solving story problem of material fraction based on Polya in the VII grade of SMP Negeri 2 Mojolaban. This research involve four students in grade VII I of SMP Negeri 2 Mojolaban. Type and design of research in this research is qualitative descriptive. Data collection method used in this research are test, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data use a triangulation method. Data Analysis methode used in this research are data reduction, data display, and data verification. These results indicate that: (1) Overall, all subjects do not make mistakes in all the number questions. It's just that for subject B do not write down what is asked, because less conscientious. (2)At the stage of preparing the plan, mistakes made in general are the same for each subject, namely in obtaining the final answer in less than one planning step. (3)At the stage of implementing the plan, the error is in the form of procedural errors and operation of fractions. (4) At the stage of looking back at all the subjects did not apply it. This is because it is not used when resolving the problem of checking the answers that have been written back.
