Abstract

This study aims to, 1) examine the differences in mathematical literacy skills of clas VIII students in solving PISA-oriented questions in content Quantity based on gender dan 2) describe the mathematical literacy skills of low, medium and high levels. The study was conducted at SMP 1 Gatak and choosing two classes as sample. The type of research is Mixed Method Research. The data collection technique consists of tests, interviews and documentation. This study uses source triangulation techniques and technical triangulation in testing the validity of the data. The qualitative data analysis technique uses the test stagesnormality, homogeneity test, data transformation and Mann Whitney U-Test. Quantitative data analysis techniques use the stages of data collection, data reduction also data presentation and data withdrawal and verification. The results showed that students' mathematical literacy abilities did not have a significant difference in terms of gender. The average literacy ability of students still at low level, there are only a few students who can reach medium level, and no students are able to achieve high level math literacy skills.
